William G. Keller's Obituary
William Glen Keller, 78, of Olympia, passed away peacefully June 16, 2016. He was born April 9, 1938 to Gladys and Robert Keller in Portland Oregon. Bill was a retired Washington State Patrolman. In his long career with the WSP, he rose to the rank of Captain. His career achievements include being part of Governor Dixie Lee Ray’s executive security team, and having an instrumental role in developing the first fingerprint database in Washington. After retirement, he co-founded Western Identification Network, and became their first CEO. At WIN he continued his work connecting fingerprint databases nationwide that became part of AFIS.
Bill was a man of many passions. His first love was of hot rods. He loved cars and joined the Olympia Cogs Car Club with his high school buddies in 1953, forming lifelong friendships. He was currently a member of the Olympia Corvette Club. Bill was also an accomplished organist. He had a great love of theater organs, and was active in the Puget Sound Theater Organ Society. A lover of all dogs, Bill had dogs almost all his life. He was particularly fond of Samoyeds and Boxers.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife Carol F Keller, and his sister-in-law Kathy Keller. He is survived by his children Susan Glines, Randy Keller and Malena Eden, his brother Bob Keller, sister-in-law Pat Karlberg, his first wife Joan Keller, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two nieces, and many lifelong friends.
Services will be held for Bill at Mountain View Funeral Home in the Aspen Chapel in Lakewood, July 16, 2016 at 11:00am, viewing from 9-11:00.
