Bill was born on August 17, 1931 in Tacoma, WA. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1949 and from College (currently University) of Puget Sound in 1956 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. He married Pat, his high school sweetheart in 1951. In 1952 Bill was drafted into the Army where he served at Camp Roberts, CA and Albuquerque, NM. After graduating CPS, Bill and Pat moved to Richland, WA and began working for General Electric as a Nuclear Engineer. Over the next 6 years, the couple welcomed three children into their home. Bill and Pat moved to San Jose, CA in 1963, then to Wilmington, NC in 1969 and back to Richland, WA in 1970.
Bill loved spending time boating on the water in California and Washington with family and friends. Bill retired in 1993 and then he and Pat moved to Redmond, WA. He continued boating and spent many days in the waters near San Juan Islands and Gig Harbor. He made many friends on their trips and loved to talk about boating and his family. When he was home, he spent hours working around their garden, visiting with
neighbors and following youth sports played by his grandkids or neighbors. Bill and Pat were a known fixture at various youth sports parks in Redmond and Sammamish. They were known to offer shelter and conversation with parents while they waited with their children for the school bus.
A funeral is scheduled for 11:00 am Wed, Oct 3 at Mountain View Funeral Home, Tacoma, with a reception to follow at their home. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill’s life. The family would like to thank Evergreen Hospital for their compassion these final days and Dr. Greg Aeschliman for a 20 year relationship of care.
