Wilfred Leroy Bullard's Obituary
Wilfred L. Bullard, 76, a lifelong resident of Tacoma, Washington, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2024, as a result of a long illness. Willie, as he was known to family and friends, was born in Tacoma to Orville and Irene (Ostendorf) Bullard and graduated from Mt. Tahoma High School in 1965. He married his beloved wife Barbara in 1977.
Willie proudly served in the US Naval Reserve after high school. His early jobs included construction for the Wells Fargo Building in downtown Tacoma and cleaning out ship holds at the Port of Tacoma. He became a well-respected refrigeration and HVAC engineer and had a long civil service career in HVAC at McChord Airforce Base.
An avid hunter and fisherman all his life, Willie enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family and friends in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. He was active at Westgate Baptist Church for many years, serving as a deacon and using his gift of service to help countless people. He had a strong faith in Jesus Christ and knew he would spend eternity in Heaven with his Lord and Savior. Always positive and cheerful, Willie set a good example of kindness and patience for everyone who knew him.
He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughters Carrie Grub and Corie Churchward; stepdaughters Sandra Holder and Karen Warren; brother Jess Bullard; sister Gayle Downs; 8 grandchildren, 2 nieces, 3 nephews and many great grandchildren.
A memorial service in Willie’s honor is being held on June 1 at 10:00 at Mountain View Cemetery in Tacoma, Washington.
