Bud was a big part of our lives for many years. He was the Pierce County Deputy or Sgt., in charge of Search & Rescue in Pierce County. When we started Explorer Search and Rescue in 1966 and. because of his interest, that program is still is vital to the citizens of Pierce County and the Washington State. He became a personal friend of our family back in 1966. His comment when I asked him if he would support an "ESAR" unit, his answer was "where have you been". Since that time Bud was the biggest supporter of Search and Rescue in Pierce County. He was the supporter for me to start the Washington State Search and Rescue Conference in 1969, which is now 44 years old. Thanks Bud for all you have done for Search and Rescue in Pierce County and the State of Washington.

Goodbye to our friend and neighbor, Bud. We did not know him as the accomplished law enforcement professional. We knew him as a kind and gentle man who was so loved by our small community. Our hearts are with his wife and kids today.
