Wesley Oliver Hanson's Obituary
Born in Wynyard Saskatchewan, Canada on July 9, 1929 and passed peacefully from this life on November 29, 2004 in Tacoma, WA. His family came to the United States in 1944 settling in Bremerton, WA. He graduated from Bremerton High School and received an Associates Degree from Fort Steilacoom Community College.Wesley was proud of his American citizenship. He served 41 years in the Washington Army National Guard and worked civil service at Grey Army Airfield, Fort Lewis as an aircraft mechanic, retiring as the shop foreman in 1987. He worked the past 17 years as an Event Attendant at the Western Washington Fair.WesÂ' most valued passion was in his work as a deacon in the Church of Christ and later as an elder. He was Â"GrandpaÂ" in the church MOPS program (Mothers of Pre-schoolers), pack leader of the Cub Scouts, and a Bible Camp Director. He was an advocate for children.He leaves his wife Laurice (Wallis) Hanson of 55 years, sons Kenneth Hanson of Tacoma, WA, Carl (Linda) Hanson of Port Townsend, WA, and Keith (Candy) Hanson of Belton, TX; mother Blanche Fleming of Fresno, CA; brothers Erling (Linda) Hanson of Flemington, MO, David (Dawn) Hanson of Central City, NE, and Jim Fleming of Garden City, ID; sisters Shirley (Ron) mason of Fresno, CA, and Madaline (David) Thorpe of Tacoma, WA.; 6 grandchildren, 4 great grandsons, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by brothers Byron Hanson of Chicago, IL, and Beverley (Jean) Hanson of Kirkland, WA; sister Gloria (Howard) Mahle of Houston, TX.A memorial service celebrating his life will be Saturday, December 4th at 1:00 pm at the Lakeview Church of Christ, 1709 South 112th Street, Tacoma, WA. A private internment at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, WA will follow.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Delano Bay Christian Camp in care of Lakeview Church of Christ, P.O.
