Walter Keller's Obituary
Walter KellerWalter Â"BudÂ" Keller, 91, passed away in Tacoma on May 6, 2003, after a short illness. Born January 22, 1912, in Two Harbors, Minnesota, Bud was the fifth of eleven children born to Steven and Selma Keller. An outstanding student, Bud was valedictorian of his 1930 senior class, best boy citizen, and honored drama/ speech student. After an early career in hotel management, Bud began working for the Weyerhaeuser Company in Cloquet, Minnesota. Married to Hildur Soderlind in 1930, Bud moved his family to Washington in the 1940s where he retired from Weyerhaeuser in 1972. A member of Mason United Methodist Church for almost 50 years, Bud surrounded himself with family, friends, home and special hobbies Â- photography and classical music. Above all, BudÂ's life was devoted to doing good for all those he encountered in the journey of life. Many people have been touched by his compassion and spiritual insights. He truly practiced walking in anotherÂ's shoes; understanding was his only agenda.Bud was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Hildur.He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn; son, Richard; daughter-in-law, Dolores; three grandchildren, Buddy, Krystal and Scott (all of Tacoma); brother, Bert Keller; and two sisters, Vivian Carlson and Mary Bjorum (all of Two Harbors, MN); and many nieces and nephews.For all those who knew him, to say he will be missed is an understatement. He fought the good fight for 91 years and was ready for his new life.Memorial services will be, Wednesday, May 14, 2003 at Mason United Methodist Church in Tacoma, WA at 2pm, 2710 N. Madison, Tacoma.
