I got to know Bob and Val and the rest of family when I lived near them in Washington for a short while. Although I had met them growing up in Philipsburg when they came to visit, I didn't truly appreciate the how wonderful they were until I knew them as an adult. From the first time I was invited to their home I began to understand what special people they were and the family values they instilled in their kids and grandkids They invited me to dinners and gatherings and gave me a chance to get to know the family I was part of. They shared stories of their lives openly and always made me feel welcome. I truly appreciate the relationships that I built with them and all of the family that I had known only disantly before. I will always be greatful for the wonderful childhood that I had with my grandparents. They both taught me so much about life that I didn't realize until I became older. I appreciate the story of Mom's life and condolence that Tom wrote. I know that it was hard because I know how hard it is for me. There weren't many days that she and I weren't together and I am going to desperately miss her. Dennis and I were very lucky to have had the parents that we had. We did have a wonderful life. Looking back and thinking of all that she accomplished, it makes mine look much less. She always thought of others and never complained. She always seemed to have time. For the last 40 years she has had Rhuematoid (sp) arthritis and I know how hard that was on her but she very seldom complained. I have much to be grateful to my parents for and hope that I measure up. I can't write about one without thinking of both of them because they always worked and made decisions as a team. Because I was single, they were like a second pair of parents to both of my children and Michelle and Tom have gained so much because of it. When I think of the people that most deserve credit for raising me Grandma is a major part of that. She may have been my grandmother but she was so much more. She was just as much a mother to me as well. She was always taking an active part in my life and I love her for that. I have so many memories to recall and not enough space to fill them all with. I am extremely glad to have been a part of her life and taken the time to learn so many things about her before she passed. She lead a very fulfilling life and she did many things that I think a lot of people would not assume of her. I like to think that she has passed many of her trates to me. Like her morality and not wavering on something that you know is right.
