Virginia Louise Wakefield's Obituary
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away at home May 4th  from complications of Alzheimer’s
Virginia was born in Tacoma to Lloyd and Zenaida Sell of Johnstown, Pennsylvania, and attended Sherman Elementary, Jason Lee Junior High, and Stadium High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Theodore Wakefield, on April 8, 1943. He had, she said, “the best looking legs on the basketball court.”  She was the sportswear buyer at Lakewood Peoples Store for twenty-five years.
After retirement Virginia and Ted traveled extensively throughout the United States doing genealogy and visiting national parks, and to Great Britain, Spain and Morocco, Australia, Hawaii, Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, Costa Rica, and Hong Kong. They were among the first Americans to tour the Peoples Republic of China after Henry Kissinger established relations. When not traveling, they spent their summers at their vacation home on Hood Canal.
Virginia was a life-long member of Order of the Eastern Star and a thirty-year member of the Mary Ball Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. She was a member of First Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, Ted, daughter Karla Stover (Edgar), son, Thomas (Diana), grandson David (Trudy) great grandchildren Emma, Rees, and Clare, and step granddaughters Jodi Bond and Lisa Hansen Rosumny .
Services will be held Monday, May 11th, 12:30 at Mt. View Funeral View Home.
