Viola Pearl Hopen's Obituary
Viola "Pearl" Hopen, 73, of Tacoma, WA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family, on July 31, 2014, from brain cancer. She was born on March 6, 1941 in Springfield, MO. to Marvin and Leona Epperson.
Pearl attended Franklin Pierce High School and later attended TCC. She was employed by the Tacoma School District. She was inspirational in starting the Back-To-School clothing program. In her retirement years she enjoyed traveling, gardening and antiquing.
She will be greatly missed by her husband of 44 years, Ruben and their children: Donna (Ted), Cathy (Rick), Steven and Loren, six grandchildren, two great-grand children, two brothers, three sisters and numerous nieces and nephews. Her family would like to thank Dr. Umesh Chitaley and his staff at Tacoma General Hospital Oncology Dept. and to Hospice and staff for their compassionate care. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 14, 2014, 1:00 PM at the Valley Chapel at Mountain View Funeral Home in Lakewood, WA.
