My deepest condolences to the Harris family from me, and my family. When I heard about Verns passing I felt an empty place in my heart. I will try to fill that space with memories of my time with him. His spirit will be with the snap of a bowstring, the break of the water by a fish, and the sunshine dawning over a far hillside, deep in the woods, waiting for that elusive buck. Lots of old memories of Vern and the family, playing baseball on a cow pasture by the river, camping, fishing and walking down a path moving rocks out of the way so everyone could drive up the side of a mountain on a hunting trip. I didn't personaly know Vern that well but the stories I have heard about him always put a smile on my face. I regret not getting to know him better. My heart goes out to his family and their loss of a great man.

My most sincere condolences to Vern's sister, children and loved ones. Vern was my best friend as we grew up together through grade school, junior high and high school. We enjoyed and aggravated each others families. He used to tell me that he was going to die young, but was going to live life to the fullest. He has indeed left us much to early. We drifted apart after high school, but my memories have lived brightly in my mind and heart. I have always admired Vern and his jest for life. I lost my 27 year old daughter about 2 years 4 months ago and there are no words I can offer to the family but that I am sorry for their tremendous loss. I regret that I did not take the time and make the effort to renew our friendship. My mother, who still lives in Tacoma on Golden Given Rd, just called and read me his obituary and I am truly sorry that I can not attend his service to say a long overdue "hello and good-bye!"
As a dear friend of mine shared when my daughter died, " The sun will still shine, just not as bright; the flowers will still smell, just not as sweet; and we will continue to live our lives, they just won't fell as complete."

I personally met Vern only briefly but I am doing what I can to help the ones he left behind since they have helped me beyond the meaning of words. To those who know the Harris family you know what I mean. Thru this terrible incident friends will be proven and promises will be made, and to the family I promise this.... I will be a friend to those left behind and can only wish I could've been more of a friend to the one that is lost. Best Regards,

I was saddened to learn of Vernon's passing and for his family's great loss. I always enjoyed being around Vernon and putting up with his teasing. My mother always told me about babysitting him and how he would try to outsmart her. Also, there was an incident when he refused to take some medicine for her that drove her crazy! He was very special to her. Vernon was a one-of-a-kind personality, caring and always made me laugh. I will miss my cousin.
