Tynne T. Swick's Obituary
Tynne Tess Swick, of Spanaway, Washington, died Thursday, April 7, 2016 in St Joseph Hospital after a brief illness.
Born on September 14, 1934, in her grandmother’s stone house in Yelm, Washington, to Douglas and Teresa Averill, Tynne had one sister, Tarice (Wesley). She graduated Bethel High School in 1953 and went on to marry her sweetheart, Glen Swick, in 1954. Together they had five children, Caryn, Lloyd (Terri), Sid (Vicky), Thomas (Kayla), and Cathy (Dale). Glen preceded her in death in 1996 after 42 years of marriage. She was grandmother to 48, great grandmother to 24, and honorary mother and grandmother to countless others. Tynne’s extended family was close to her, along with the families of her brothers-in-law.
A house is a building, and home is a feeling. Tynne was home to a great many people. With her warm smile and welcoming spirit, she charmed everyone she met, and there weren’t any strangers at her dinner table. Throughout her career at Bethel School District, first as a cook at Spanaway Elementary, and then as the laundry lady at Bethel High School, she made many life-long friendships, with her co-workers and with her “kids” especially. When she retired in 1999, after 23 years of service, she left a void that was never properly filled.
Tynne spent her life with her family and friends, and the love they have shown her is a mere reflection of the love she gave to all she knew. She is now resting in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
There will be a memorial held on April 30, 1:00 pm, at Bethel High School. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Harvest House at The Church at Cedar Springs.
