Troy Lee Atwell, born on November 3, 1974, passed away on August 20, 2024. A competitive gymnast and captain of his team, Troy’s dedication and leadership were evident from a young age. He graduated from McArthur High School in Irving, Texas, and went on to earn a Master’s in Business from Capella University, nearly completing his doctorate.
After high school, Troy joined the Navy, serving proudly on the USS Frederick. He maintained close ties with his shipmates, embodying the spirit of camaraderie and service. Known for his generosity, Troy helped others discover their passions and achieve success, influencing many classmates to join the Navy and change their lives for the better.
Troy’s deep familiarity with scripture allowed him to quote the Bible and name specific verses with ease. His love for gaming, reading, and writing showcased his desire to perfect anything he set his mind to. He was a master of chess and could finish a Rubik’s cube in one minute and ten seconds.
Among his 11 animals, his beloved Yorkie, Bear Bear, held a special place in his heart. Above all, Troy cherished his family. His wife, Catherine, and daughter, Via, were the most important people in his life, and he spoke of them with immense pride to anyone who would listen. Troy’s legacy of love, dedication, and service will be remembered by all who knew him.
