Susan Leone Briggs' Obituary
Born in Tacoma to Grant and Ann Williams, Sue lost a courageous 3½-year battle against an unbeatable foe, non small cell lung cancer. She is survived by her loving husband, Don Briggs, her loved mother-in-law Ruth Briggs, her devoted boys and their wives, Ed and Wendy Troyer, Ron and Sibylle Troyer, her sister, Virginia, and husband James Eshelman and 5 grandchildren, Grant, Zachary, Briana, Grace, and Tyler. She will also be missed by her step daughter, Michelle Cecil and her family.At 16, Susan was very active in the Civil Air Patrol and was the first female cadet to earn her student pilot license. She loved flying and never forgot the thrill of her first solo flight and flying under the Narrows Bridge with big Red in an open cockpit duo stick biplane.She graduated from Stadium High School and received an Associate Arts Degree at Tacoma Community College. Sue had a career with the Department of Licensing and served as office supervisor at W-Tacoma, Spanaway and the Parkland Offices. She opened the Parkland Office in the State Patrol building that was an experimental office where both drivers and vehicle service were offered by the same staff. She loved her job.Sue was a member of chapter DE of PEO and loved all the really nice and gracious ladies that she came to know. She grew Dahlias and kept fresh bouquets in the house every summer. She was an avid picture taker with many beautiful digital photos in her Computer. She liked playing computer video games on her laptop until all hours of the night, when she couldn t sleep.SueÂ's ashes will be released on the windy side of Maui, Hawaii. Maui was one of her favorite places and she stayed there for 7 months during her last cancer treatments.Our loss is HeavenÂ's gain, where she will finally be free of her pain and suffering. By her request, there will be no service.
