Sumiko H. Fruge's Obituary
Sumiko H. Fruge, 94 passed away into the loving arms of her Creator on May 1, 2026. She was an incredible woman, beloved mother and friend, a treasure to all who had the honor to know her.
She was born February 14, 1932 in Akita, Japan to parents Kinoichiro and Yae Hayashi, the fifth child of seven children, Shin, Akiko, Shegiko, Takashi, Kimiko and Yoshiko.
After WWII she married Martin Fruge and they had five children. As a military wife, they lived in many States settling in Lakewood, Washington. She was widowed at a young age and raised her children as a single parent with unwavering strength and Godliness.
She truly was a Proverb 31 woman.
After retiring from the Bon Marche as a tailor, she traveled the world even visiting her daughter who lived in Paris, France with her best friend.
Sumiko leaves behind her children Yuka (Ron) Smith, David (Hiroko), Paul, JoAnn Fruge (Don Culanag), Peter (Cindy), grandchildren Alyssa Fruge, Remy Fruge, Matthew (Shevon) Fruge, Hayley (Mike) Rossi, Kenzie Fruge and 3 great grandchildren.
She will be remembered for her strength, humor, and kindness. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
