What I remember about my Grandpa was how he would wink at you when you walked into a room he was in. His vibrant blue eyes would twinkle, literally. He loved talking about his firefighting days in the Forestry Service. I remember his story about when he got rope burn so bad on his hand it permanently fused 2 of his fingers together. I remember how he loved his car, "Big Red". He washed and waxed that car all the time, it was spotless. His yard was spotless as well, it was his pride and joy. He did all the yard work himself. He had a HUGE Laurel hedge that he would cut and shape with a small, hand-held yard sheer. He picked up his cherry tree leaves 1 at a time, by hand. Not just the leaves, he would pick up all the fallen cherry's as well. He didn't like anything in his grass, he would watch the squirrel's to see where they buried their acorns, then go dig them up as well. If he wasn't taking care of his yard, you could find him taking care of the neighbors yard as well, or cutting and stacking firewood. He loved being outside and enjoyed all our family bbq's. His life was fully lived and he had 96 years of a fully lived life.
I want to say a big heart-felt THANK YOU to my mom for her countless hours over the last 24 years making my Grandpa's life perfect and stress free for him.
I am glad to say I seen him pass into his next adventure in life with a huge grin on his face and that twinkle in his eye.... Love you Grandpa.
