Shirley R. Morgan, of Tacoma, passed away October 4, 2013, at the age of 87.
Shirley was born in Cordorva, Illinois on October 5, 1925 to George Alten Reynolds and Mae Josephine Forsythe. She graduated from Cornell College In Mt. Vernon, Iowa, in June of 1947 with a degree in Home Economics. While at Cornell College, she met John Morgan. After years as a homemaker, at the age of 55 she went to vocational school, trained to be a hospital unit secretary and worked for 6 years at St. Joseph Hospital in Tacoma. She started running in her 50's and completed a number of marathons. Shirley and John traveled extensively internationally during retirement, including many bike trips.
Shirley was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother - and a big Mariner's fan!
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, John Morgan; three children, John Morgan Jr, Jean Dawkins, and Jay Morgan; and two granddaughters, Kasie Dawkins and Kai Morgan.
