Shirley L. Mooney's Obituary
Passed away on December 31, 2004 after a lengthy illness.She was born in Centralia, Washington on May 31, 1932, graduated from Centralia High School, Knapps Business College, and Fort Steilacoom Community College. She worked at the Port of Tacoma Engineering Department retiring in 1988.Shirley was a devoted mother and grandmother and was a member of St. LukeÂ's Memorial Church, and People for Puget Sound.She is survived by three children and six grandchildren, son Donald C. (Kelly Newbrey) Mooney Jr., and sons Christopher Jarrett-Newbrey, Nicholas Paul-Newbrey, and Patrick Thomas-Newbrey all of Edgewood, WA; Daughter Susan M. (Don) Youngblood and daughters Ashley Ann, Jordan Leigh, and Courtney Marie all of Tacoma; and son Reese Alan of San Diego, CA.Additional survivors include a brother Everett L. (Edna) Wohld of Centralia, and a sister Doris (David) Nakano of Centralia. Other survivors include her companion Francis Â"HapÂ" Layher of Tucson, AZ, a niece Linda Swensen and her family, along with many other nieces and nephews, and her ex-husband and friend Donald C. Mooney Sr. Shirley was preceded in death by her son Thomas Conrad Mooney and her parents Johan Conrad and Lucy Myrtle (Dodge) Wohld, along with a brother Helge Paul Wohld and her older sister Dorothy Mae Fode.The family wishes to thank ShirleyÂ's former co-worker and long time friend Alice Beckham who devoted many hours to the care of Shirley during her final time of illness.She was cremated according to her wishes. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the American Cancer Society. Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, Jan. 6 at St. LukeÂ's Episcopal Church, 3615 N. Gove St.
