Sharon E. Gilchrist's Obituary
Sharon Elaine Gilchrist was born on August 26, 1933 in Gridley, CA and passed away on Feb. 14, 2017 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Kent Gilchrist, Son Jeffery Gilchrist of San Francisco, CA, Daughter Leslie Gilchrist Nelson of Seattle, Daughter Stacy Vevoda of Atlanta, Son Ryan Gilchrist of Seattle, WA, and step sister Marsha Ebert of Chico, CA. Sharon also leaves behind 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Kent and Sharon were married in Chico, CA on June 11, 1955. It was truly a marriage made in Heaven. Sharon graduated from Chico State College with a BA and a teaching degree. She taught elementary school in Chico, CA and Tacoma, WA. Sharon loved to travel. Kolina, HI was one of her favorite places to visit. She loved camping, fly-fishing, aerobics, and participating in many other sports. Sharon was most proud of her marriage, her family, and was a momma bear when it came to the kids. Sharon was loyal, honest, stubborn and fun loving. She will be greatly missed. A celebration of Sharon’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
