We couldn’t be there today for Scott’s celebration of life, but I wanted to take a minute to remind people what a great guy he was. We met Scott in approximately 2013 when we moved in across the street from his son‘s family. Him and his wife were always so nice to our kids, even bringing them back treats from vacations as if they were their own grandkids. One of the first times I met Scott, he came over and was helping us me on our water heater. I was at the point I had replaced virtually every part and was getting ready to go buy a new one, when just like a scene out of MacGyver, he got an old solder gun out and using the equivalent of small paper clips got it put back together. It’s still running to this day. Another great memory, was when Scott and his wife invited our family out to their house to take the kids on the dirt bike and tractor. To this day my kids still talk about how fun that was. The world lost a great one with Scott , may he rest in peace.

I had the good fortune to work with Scott for more than a decade at Alaska Airlines. When I first met Scott, he was working as an Avionics Technician at the Departure/Arrival gates at SEATAC and I was working as a Hangar/Line technician. I think the first time I talked to him he was just finishing up the New York times crossword puzzle something he did every day in his spare time.
At one point I decided to respond to the Technical Training dept. about a recent posting for an instructor position. I was tasked with creating a presentation on Auxiliary Powerplant Unit (APU) that was to last 15-20 minutes.
I went to talk to Scott about some ideas that I was considering and some questions I had. We talked about it for a bit and planned to talk again in a few days. When we met again, he had drawn out a detailed schematic of the APU operation, some description and operation information info and even trouble shooting tips. It was frankly over my head at the time, and I didn’t get the job, but it was the first time I realized how smart Scott was.
Not long after that the Technical Training Department opened some positions in the newly created Work Integrated Trainer program (WIT program). We both applied for and were accepted into these new positions. I was able to see firsthand just how impressive he was at consuming, retaining, and using information.
He had a knack for digesting detailed text, breaking it down into smaller chunks and making it understandable. He did this with a very important program call the Low Weather Minimum program for aircraft approaching the airport in very low visibility. He became the guru for all things Low Weather to the point that when he decided to retire there were many who feared that no one could take his place.
Scott was an avid photographer, excellent at cards and I’ve never seen anyone throw a frisbee as far as he could… and so much more.
You will be missed Scott.

I had the privilege of working with Scott in the Alaska Airlines Training Department. Scott had a wealth of knowledge not only about the aircraft, but about many other topics as well. You always knew when you talked to Scott that you would learn something new, that he would have a great story, and at the end of that story, everyone would have a great laugh. Scott was a great man and good friend. We will miss him at the Alaska get-togethers.

Many great memories of my dad and our family trips. He enjoyed life with family, friends and road trips. He really enjoyed roller coasters and fishing and camping trips. Spending time with his grandchildren was always a joy to him. I will miss our trips to get hamburgers and Ivars for clam chowder and fish & chips. I will miss you dad, Love Andy

As a child I so looked forward to summer because Babs, Fonzo, Scott, Randy, and Barney would come to Ellijay for a visit! The boys always had something new to show, or teach me. They introduced me to Mad Magazine. They taught me had to press Play Putty on the Sunday comics, and transfer the images onto the putty. There were always new games to learn.
My husband and I visited with Scott and Donna in Tacoma, and they took us to Mt. Rainier and Mt. Saint Helens. Scott climbed a mountain with me, and when I panicked at the summit because of how high up we were, he helped me get back down. Our last conversations were about genealogy. I had discovered online an old newspaper article about Reg, Scott’s grandfather, and some old pictures and papers. I have always loved Scott. He was a good cousin! I will miss him. My prayers are with his family. I love you all, Patricia
