Sam BentleyHusband, Dad, Papa & FriendA long time resident of Lakewood and a tower of a man known as Sam, Dad & Papa was called away to be with the Lord suddenly on April 22nd.He was the eighth of eleven children, entering into life on April 10, 1935 to Letitia and Benjamin Bentley of Neon, Kentucky.He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Lorraine and 6 children, Glen (Darlene), Celeste (Robin) Wiebersch, Rose (Mike) White, Pam (Dave) Haukeli, Jody, Mike (Cindy) and 14 grandchildren.He served 20 years in the Air Force until his retirement in 1975, which after he was active in the American Legion, The Veterans of Foreign War and the Disabled American Veterans. These were among the many fraternal organizations which he participated and enjoyed being a part of. He was also a lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club and was commonly known as thee Elder of Hunting and Fishing Group. His favorite pastimes were wood working, fishing, hunting and camping.There was never a moment that Papa did not have a pocket full of candy for the grandchildren.Funeral arrangements are through Mt. View Funeral Home with viewing on Thursday from 3-9pm and military graveside services will be Friday at 11:30 AM. A reception will follow the service at the residence of Mike and Rose White, 15408 127th Ave E.
