Ruyen Vu's Obituary
Ms. Ruyen Vu’s Memorial Service on 7/19/24 02:00 P.M.
Peacefully Ms. Ruyen Vu took her last breath in the comfort of her home and surrounded by her children on July 10th, 2024. She left a huge void for those who know her. It is an indescribable lost for them.
In 1925, Ms. Vu was born in Thai-Binh city, northern Viet Nam. She lived there until 1954 then relocated to southern Viet Nam (as the results of the Geneva Accords Agreement ending the 1st Indochina War). She settled in My-Tho city and begun to raise her family there until 1990. Then once again, she relocated to the United States of America and gained her residency through the Petition for Alien Relative program. She first lived in Houston, Texas for one year then moved to Tacoma, Washington.
Resilient is the word often used to characterize Ms. Vu. She was truly an amazing woman for her ability to keep her offspring well protected and well supported despite the upheaval brought on during Viet Nam’s two Indochina wars; including the difficult time after the 2ndwar ended in 1975, when the whole country was placed under the new government’s economic reforms. Life was extremely difficult for everyone during those years. Nonetheless, in making sure that her children would have food on the table and means to
continue with education, Ms. Vu transitioned from a being-at-home mom to a business woman. She tried her hands at various income-producing venues. She worked tirelessly making ends meet while maintained a normal home life for her children. Besides her husband, Ms. Vu was also the heart and soul of her family. Her resilience and perseverance helped her standing tall through the chaos of living through two wars and the adversities of establishing life in two continents.
Ms. Vu was known to others for her hearty laugh, gentle spirit, kindness, cheerful, and positive attitude -- these virtues all stemmed from her devotion to Buddhism.
Ms. Vu is survived by four daughters: Chac, Hoa, Ngoc (Jade), Lana. Five sons: Loc, Long, Luan, Liem (Jeff), Lam. 8 in-law children. 16 grand children. 6 in-law grandchildren. 11 great grandchildren.
After 99 years of being the guiding light for her children and although the light is now dimmed but its illumination will forever shine their paths brightly. Already, she is missed deeply.
