Dear Benson Family,
Ruth was such a wonderful friend. I met her at the YMCA and continued to see her at least three times a week. My friend, Joan, and I took her to breakfast about once a month. I will miss her lovely smile and cheerfulness no matter what challenges she faced. Ruth will always be in my heart. I can think of no one I admired more than Ruth and feel privileged to have been her friend.

Ruth was, first, our neighbor three doors down on Summit Avenue when we moved there in 1983. She was a delightful neighbor, always full of helpful information on numerous topics. Several years later I began to attend the Y regularly, and saw her there every morning! What an inspirational woman! She drove herself there in all but the most horrible weather, on the darkest of mornings! She must have been the first one in the building! And, even though I moved from Summit 25 years ago, she was always willing to bring me up to speed on the latest developments up and down the block. To her family: please accept Scott's and my sincere condolences.

I met Ruth at the Y many, many decades ago. She was someone that just attracted people with her smile, positive attitude and steadfast fitness routine. She was an inspirational. I will miss seeing her at the Y.
