Roosevelt has been a family friend for a good many years, in fact he performed the marriage ceremony for Bonnie and I back in '93. I was a Lay Reader for my previous church and Roosevelt encouraged me to continue doing so at Grace UMC. Under his guidance and instruction I entered the Clergy eventually becoming his Ass't Pastor. When we had our first granddaughter (Amiyah) he performed her baptism. Besides being an exceptional Pastor he remained close to all congregational members, although small by most standards our church membership was both multi-racial and multi-cultural. Upon his retirement he nominated me to assume the pastorship of Grace UMC, Under his leadership, compassion, charity, Grace church became more and more family like. Roosevelt will be missed greatly. We rejoice in that he is on his way home where he will know eternal joy resting in the arms of the Lord evermore.
