Ronald Ferch's Obituary
Ronald (Ron) Alvin Ferch passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018, at the age of 81 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Puyallup, Washington. He was born in Tacoma, Washington, on August 19, 1937, and grew up in Puyallup, Washington. He attended Puyallup High School where he played on the golf team and graduated in the class of 1955. He then enlisted in the Army and was stationed in Anchorage, Alaska. He considered himself fortunate to be selected as a member of the Army Ski Team and to serve his country by competing in downhill races. One of his goals was to reach age 80 so he could ski for free at White Pass. He always said skiing was as close to flying and being free as a man could get. > > After the Army, he worked in sales for various companies. In the 1980s he became a partner in North America Resources International (Trimax Ltd./NARI Ltd), a company that exported forest products to Asia. He traveled to Korea and South America and never lost his love for Korean food . In 1989 this company was the recipient of the Governor’s Export Award for Forest Products. He retired from this company in the 1990s and moved to the Randle/Packwood area. > > He loved to play golf, ski, watch sports on TV, and be with good friends. Horses were always a part of his life. He was a member of the Pierce County Sheriff Posse and > the Packwood area lent itself to riding and owning horses. He had many fun trail rides with friends and family. He was proud of the fact that he still maintained friendships with many from his high school days. Friendships meant a great deal to him as he was of the Old School Ways. > > He is preceded in death by his parents, Al and Jerene Ferch and his son Jon Allen Ferch. His family members include his wife and friend, Rose Marie Ferch, his daughter, Lisa Lynn Tunistra (Steve), his son, Dean Allen Ferch (Jackie), a beloved grandson, Jon Jeffery Ferch (Alisha), step - daughter Anne Marie Kachmarek (Joel), his precious and much loved great-granddaughters, Lily and Emma Ferch, and his beloved granddaughters, Claire and Avery Kachmarek, his sister, Carol Ferch (Dan Willsie) and a nephew Blake Trask.
