In Loving Memory
Ronald Ernest Davies
February 12, 1945 – June 20, 2014
Ronald Ernest Davies, a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend died unexpectedly on Friday, June 20th, 2014, at the age of 69.
He was born to Archie and Stella Davies on February 12, 1945, in Portland, Oregon. He graduated from North Eugene High School in 1963, and was a key member of the men’s varsity basketball team that won the Oregon Class A-1 Championship his senior year.
In 1964, Ron enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving primarily as a Material Facilities Specialist. He served at Air Force bases in Nevada, New Mexico, Idaho, Wyoming and Okinawa, Japan.
After nearly twenty-two years of honorable service to his country, he retired from the United States Air Force in 1985 and settled in Tacoma, Washington. In the same year, he was employed by Brown & Haley in Tacoma, where he worked as a Shipping Agent and later an Inventory Control Manager for twenty-six years before making the decision to retire in 2011.
Ron’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He selflessly devoted his life to his wife, children and grandchildren. He loved coaching, teaching and cheering on his sons and daughter in the various sports they played. He also loved working out in the yard with his wife, taking nature walks with his grandchildren, walking with his neighborhood buddies, and playing basketball, softball, bowling, golf and cribbage with friends and family. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was liked by everyone he met.
Ron is survived by his devoted wife of 47 years, Nori; sister Janice and her husband Jim Kane; daughter Elaine and her husband Frank Pupo; son Edward Davies and his wife Dorece; son Christopher Davies; grandchildren, Isabel and Maya Pupo, Lauren and Luke Davies, and Keenon, Dawson and Gavin Davies; and nieces and nephews.
A private memorial service will be held at Mountain View Funeral Home in Tacoma, Washington, and military honors will be held at a later date at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent, Washington.
