Robert Leroy Vormestrand's Obituary
Robert went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 21, 2009. He was born April 12, 1931 in Bantry, North Dakota. He moved to Eatonville in 1942 and then to Sumner in 1946. He graduated from Sumner High in 1949. He excelled in football and basketball, at which he received a scholarship to play for University of Puget Sound.
He joined the National Guard Reserves during the Korean War. He was best known as a skilled mechanic and service station owner of Grandview Chevron until his retirement. He was a lifetime member of the Elks and a member of Grace Place.
Robert enjoyed fishing, clamming, boating and gardening. He was a loving husband, wonderful dad and an incredible grandfather.
He is survived by his wife and high school sweetheart Charlotte (Clerget) of 58 years, brother Glenn (Doris) Vormestrand, son Kim (Gloria)Vormestand, daughter Cindy Vormestrand, grandchildren Jill (Rob) Deblois, Kyle Vormestrand, Troy Parnell and great-grandchildren Brock and Sierra Parnell.
