Robert Grass' Obituary
Robert (Bob) GrassBorn May 13, 1920, passed away June 23, 2004, in McKenna, Washington. Bob lived most of his life in Tacoma and retired from McChord AFB after 30 plus years as a civil service electrician. Bob was gifted with an intellect and physical capability which enabled him to create beauty from nothing. No challenge was too great, no accomplishment too small that the pride of a craftsman did not shine through.Bob was proud of his military service in World War II where he entered France through Omaha Beach. He served as a combat infantryman in heavy weapons and fought his way across France and well into Germany. He was recovered from a foxhole unconscious and flown back to a hospital in England still unconscious, where a nurse, days later, welcomed him back.Bob loved hunting and fishing, that was his life, salmon fishing locally and on the Columbia River, hunting the fields with his beloved cocker spaniels or trudging the hills for big game.Â"HUNTER HOME FROM THE HILLS Â- SAILOR HOME FROM THE SEA Â- REST IN PEACE DEAR BROTHER, UNCLE AND FRIENDÂ...Â"Bob is survived by sister Sally A. Wiggins (Bob), sister-in-law, Katherine, 4 nephews & 1 niece.
