Robert Gene Gilbertson's Obituary
Robert (Bob) Gene Gilbertson passed away at the age of 72 on October 30, 2015 at the University of Washington Hospital in Seattle. Born on April 2, 1943 in Mandan, North Dakota, he was a resident of Gig Harbor for the past 16 years. Bob was happily married to his wife Lila for 52 years. Bob served with the United States Navy and was honorably discharged in 1967. He was the owner and operator of Gil's Deli in Fircrest and later he enjoyed designing metal art. He found great joy in participating in the Gig Harbor Farmers Market and Tide Fest. He is survived by his four children Kerry Cady (Eric), Jody Lopat (Chris), Tod Gilbertson (Heather), Sean Gilbertson (Leesa); he was an amazing grandpa to Kalayna, Frankie, Trae, Joplin, Shyah, Ty, Nicholas, Georgia and Evan. Bob was a warm, friendly person that loved interacting with others, he had many that admired and collected his art pieces. We are celebrating a life well lived by a man that did it “his way”, on Tuesday, December 8th from 1:00pm-4:00pm at Mountain View Celebration of Life Center, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Lakewood. The family would like to thank the dedicated loving care that the staff at the University of Washington Cardiology Department gave Bob over the past three years.
