Robert James Downey Jr.'s Obituary
Robert Downey Jr. USAF Retired was born on November 13, 1970 to Evelyn and Robert Downey Sr. in Cambridge, MA. He passed on January 19, 2017. He was loved and will be missed by his parents, his sister Colleen, brother-in-law Brian, niece Amanda, his step son Anthony, and his wife Heather. A private family graveside with military honors will be held on January 27, 2017.
Robert spent several years as a teenager in Japan, which he loved. He came back and graduated from East High School in Cheyanne, WY in 1989. He joined the Air Force in 1993, where he spent 20 years and travelled to Oman, Diego Garcia, Saudi Arabia, and across the United States, working in Airlift and special mission aircraft maintenance. He retired in 2013 as Master Sergeant at JBLM, and married Heather the same year. Robert was an amazing person; he was smart funny, and kind. At the time of his death, Robert was working toward a Bachelor’s degree in History. He loved projects building bicycles, reading and riding his motorcycle. He also enjoyed being outdoors, and he and Heather often took off on road trips to the mountains, to Alpental, Leavenworth, Ocean Shores or Long Beach. Their love story ended too quickly 100 years would not have been enough. Robert and Heather both felt like they were the lucky one, and wanted nothing more than to make each other happy. Roberts’s absence created a hole that cannot be filled. We will all miss you.
