Robert Bernhardt Sather's Obituary
Life long Tacoma resident, Lincoln High School & UPS graduate, in his youth, Bob was a TNT newsboy, 38th St. pharmacy soda jerk and woodsman on Mt. Rainier fire lookouts. He earned a Purple Heart for his service during the Korean War. Bob worked for 37 years serving special needs children as an Occupational Therapist with Tacoma Public Schools. He created and modified pediatric handicapped equipment and was a past President of United Cerebral Palsy Sheltered Workshop. Outside of school, Bob was a life-long car buff, gifted woodcarver and musician. He loved to take his family camping in their trailer, fishing, sailing, and enjoying the outdoors. Bob was a cherished husband, father, and grandfather. His gentle, quiet wisdom, sense of humor and never ending love will be deeply missed. Bob is now at peace following a long struggle with ParkinsonÂ's disease. He is survived by Arden, his wife of 54 years, sister Lorraine, daughter Laura, son Brian (Janine), grandchildren Sara and Ben, and many, many life-long friends. Private services will be held at 12:00 PM, Saturday, Oct 29, 2005, in The Mountain View Garden Chapel.Remembrances may be made to Long Term Care, Catholic Community Services, 1323 South Yakima Ave, Tacoma, WA 98405.
