I was fortunate enough to have worked with Bob in Tacoma schools as a peer occupational therapist. I had great respect for Bob's unique skills and his compassion for others. I missed him when he retired and now I will miss him as he takes his final retirement. Blessings to the family.
Sincerely,

I have been blessed to know Bob only a short time in my three years living in Washington. What I will remember most is the wonderful stories he shared and how the Sather family made me one of there own! Bob was a wonderful, careing individual who dedicated his life in helping others. He will remain in our hearts and will never be forgotten.##imported-begin##Trudy Miller##imported-end##
The obituary is wonderful. It reflects a person who enjoyed life. And that is how Bob was at work. I am glad to have known Bob. He was one of the most creative OTs, I've known. He's humor and gentleness also made him one of a kind. I hope the family is finding all the support and love they need during this time of grief.##imported-begin##Lori Doyle-Cook##imported-end##
I had the honor & pleasure of working with Bob many years ago at Seward Elm. He was & is, one of the sweetest & honest men I've ever known. The Jebsen-Taylor Hand Function test will always hold a special place in my heart!##imported-begin##Patti Devine##imported-end##
I have fond memories when Bob, my brother Dick and I were youngsters and the great times we had together.##imported-begin##Joseph L. Freet##imported-end##
Dear family and friends,
I am an OT in the Tacoma School District and although I did not work with Bob, he came by Steward after he retired and I was able to meet him. I saw the works of his handcrafting skills and heard the many stories from other staff of how he helped so many children. It was evident by the love of staff that he did excellant service to others. Even though Seward is not there, "Bob's shop" is at another school and still is being used to assist students today. Laura,
I am so sorry for the loss of your father. My dad has been gone for four years now - I still miss him but am able to smile now about things he said or did. There is something so special about that father/daughter relationship.
You are such an amazing, giving person - you were a wonderful and selfless daughter to your dad. Please remember that always.
If you need to talk, just email me and I will give you a call. I am here for you and am always your friend and will be of any support that you need. Don't be afraid to ask.
My condolences to you and your family.
Love,
Kat##imported-begin##Kathy Shelstad Martin##imported-end##
Bob was certainly one of a kind. When I was starting out in OT at the old Seward school Bob was a kind and patient mentor to me as I tried to make things in the shop. Bob could make anything! He loved the students, helping them develop coordination, concentration and self-confidence. He was an inspiration to me, the staff and his students. My love and prayers to his family- he will be missed by us all.##imported-begin##Rosalyn Lueck-Mammen##imported-end##
