Richard H. Muir's Obituary
Richard was born in Helena, Montana and moved to Tacoma as a small child. He had many fond memories of Tacoma and his school days here. He graduated from Wilson High School in 1960. Following high school he enlisted in the Navy where he served with honor and courage for 23 years. His tours included three calls to Viet Nam. After retiring from the Navy as a Chief Petty Officer, he began a 15 year career with Occidental Chemical of Tacoma.Richard is survived by his caring partner in life, and wife of 41 years, Mary, his daughter Julie Charette, and son-in-law Tom (Florida), son Richard Muir Jr., and daughter-in-law Renee, five beautiful grandchildren, his father James L Muir, brothers and sisters: James D. Muir and Connie (New Hampshire), Beverly Muir-Williams and Bob, John Muir and Sharon, Pauline Muir-Stroud and Wendell, Robert Muir and Tish of Tacoma. He was very proud of his family and extended family: Jerry Ann Rutta (Dallas), Bill Cook (Ft. Worth) Cheryl Packwood (Dallas), and Lorraine Waterman(New York)Not many of us are blessed with the ability to be so loving and to be so loved. Richard was one of those very special people. He had a way of bringing others to him because he was willing to give so much of himself He had many successes and proud moments, but his greatest success was possibly his ability to nurture his family and friends - they gathered around him with honor and love during his last days. Â"Richard, we will always miss your love, your support, humor, and of course, your strength.Â"Memorial services will be held Saturday, April 5th, 3:00 PM at the Mountain View Celebration of Life Center, 4100 Steilacoom Blvd. SW, Tacoma.
