richard and i started out together in second grade in mrs hinkley's class at washington grade school. as i mentioned at the funeral,he was a happy kid. never knew him when he wasn't. like the rest of us he was also full of the dickens. we had a lot of fun together. it was obvious he came from a good home. i remember his mother running a tight ship. she had to w/all those kids she was raising. i always felt welcomed there. we grew up in the 50's when life was easier. richard and i chased after everything and when we became teenagers it was girls. by the time we were sixteen he told me he was going to join the navy. he wanted to wear the uniform. never saw him again until our hs reunions.
nothing had changed. we were still friends and talked about getting together. wished we had.
