Raydell Cecil Bradley's Obituary
Dr. Raydell Cecil Bradley, beloved son of Isaiah A. Bradley and the late Gail Bradley passed away Friday, November 28, 2003. Dr. Bradley was born in Macon, MO December 14, 1958 and resided in the Tacoma, WA area for the past 10 years. Dr. Bradley was a graduate of Macon High School, class of 1977. After graduating, Dr. Bradley received his B.A. and M.A. from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO.He served as the Director of Concert Bands at Pacific Lutheran University where he conducted the University Wind Ensemble and Concert Band, as well as conducted the Washington State Wind Ensemble. Before accepting his position at PLU, Dr. Bradley was Director of Bands at Fort Hays State University at Fort Hays, KS, where he directed the Symphonic Concert Band. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Director of Bands at Truman State University and also worked in the Omaha public schools.In June 2000, Dr. Bradley received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Washington, where he was recipient of the Dorothy Danforth-Compton Foundation fellowship. He served as a guest clinician, conductor and adjudicator in over 25 states and Canada. He was a founding member of the Gospel/Jazz group the Â"Sabbatical FiveÂ".Dr. Bradley is survived by his father Isaiah A. Bradley; sister, Diana G. Shipley (Wayne Shipley, brother-in-law); brothers, Isaiah Â"TeddyÂ" Bradley, Jr. and Alexander Bradley (Sigrun Bradley, sister-in-law); a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues will tremendously miss the loving, kind, gentle spirit of Dr. Raydell Cecil Bradley.A memorial service will be held in Macon, MO on December 13, 2003 and in Tacoma, WA, at Pacific Lutheran University in January, time and date to be announced.
