I met Dino and Nilda back in 1980 as I went to HS with Nilda's sister, Sandra. My life took a lot of twists and turns and I lost contact but I was thinking of them today and came upon this. Dino and I were classmates at GW High School in NY. It was around the time that a local disc jockey first played one of his group’s songs. I remember that we sat side by side in one class, and that he was just a cool, down to earth friend. May his family find some comfort knowing that he was a very special man and will never be forgotten.

I was just watching old videos with my family, Dino was singing as usual and we danced salsa at Yolanda and Papo's. I told them of my dear friends Dino and Nilda and the many good times we shared. My heart is heavy but I'm so thankful for the times I shared with Dino. To me he was funny, super talented in so many things, a mentor, overcomer, encouraging, and a great man. Love u Dino!!! Sandy
I am so sorry to hear about Dino's passing. I was a 17 year old kid in the Army back in 1980 and Dino took me under his wing. He was a good friend that I was sorry to see go when he got hurt. I was there in the hospital with him before he went home from the army and he said something to me that I have carried with me my whole life. "Kid get out of here and live your life, enjoy every moment." I recently tried to reconnect with Dino through Facebook but it was too late. He was a good man who could sing the hell out of "La Bamba". The world has lost a truly kind soul. God bless. Rest in peace. -
