Piper Cheney's Obituary
Fox Island, Washington – Piper Cheney, age 64, passed away on October 26, 2020 surrounded by family. Piper was born December 9, 1955 in Tacoma, Washington to the parents Ben and Marian Cheney and was a graduate of Annie Wright School and the University of Puget Sound.
Piper was a lifelong resident of the Puget Sound area where she was a well-loved by her family and friends, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and philanthropist. Piper’s philanthropic effort was important to her and was described as having a servant’s heart. Piper will be known as compassionate, strong, determined, and loving. She proudly served as the Vice President of the Ben B. Cheney Foundation, past board chair and emeritus board member of Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital, member of the Junior League of Tacoma, volunteer for Peninsula Pony Club, and many more. She gave her time and attention to serving those within the community and helping those in need.
She is survived by her husband of 35 years, Matt Beckingham, her brother and spouse, Brad and Carolyn Cheney, and her daughters, Maren Foster, Jamie Algee and spouse Delmar, Mallory Delabar, Jordan Beckingham, nephews Andrew and Henry, and niece Karrie. She had 5 grandchildren that she adored, Layla, August, Sutton, Annie, and Bo who thought she was the funniest grandma ever.
Piper will be buried at Mountain View Cemetery in a private service at her request. Piper asked In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Mary Bridge Children’s Hospital or your favorite charity.
