PHILIP G. THOMAS
Philip was born in Puyallup, WA. April 23, 1936 and died in Puyallup on October 8, 2013.
Phil was preceded in death by his wife, Joanne, and a son, Patrick, brother, Guy Eugene, and sisters, Patricia Averyt and Thelma Thomas. He is survived by daughter, Tamara Cooley, of Wyoming, son, Robert, of Orting, grandsons, Jared Thomas and Jamieson Rainey, great-grandson, Aiden Thomas, sister, Margaret (Peg) O'Brien of Fircrest, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside services, Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 at 11:30 AM at Mt. View Cemetery, Lakewood WA.
Phil served in the US Air Force. Later he taught Art and Art History at McIlveigh, Lincoln and Gault schools in Tacoma, He was active in Y Indian Guides, and both the Chevy Club
and Model A Club in Pierce County.
Phil retired from the Tacoma School System and then the family moved from Tacoma to Orting, where he lived until he went into the nursing home. For the past four years lived at
Linden Grove Nursing Home in Puyallup, where he died. While living there his sister, Peg and his niece, Patty Frazier, watched over him and his needs. The family wishes to thank
the staff at Linden Grove for their care and affection.
We will miss Phil very much, and he will always be in our thoughts and prayers.
