Patricia Ann Kaiser's Obituary
Patricia A. Kaiser (Moon), 71, passed away August 21, 2018 in Kirkland, WA after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She fought hard for two and half years, surpassing doctor’s expectations and surprising everyone with her tenacity and grit. Pat was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Moon, and leaves behind many who love her: her husband of 44 years, Dean Kaiser, daughter Shelley Berry (Tom), grandson Zachary Berry, mother Josephine Moon, brother Don Moon, brother Jim Moon (Sherri), sister Kathy Fancher (John), and sister Julie Hayward (Tony), as well as many nieces and nephews.
Pat was born on July 15, 1947 in Bellingham, WA. She was the oldest of five kids and later moved to Tacoma where she graduated from Mount Tahoma High School in 1965. Over the years she worked as a beautician, retail security officer, bookstore manager, and retail merchandiser. She married her husband in 1974 and moved to Florida. After their daughter was born, they moved back to Kirkland to be near family, where they continued to reside until her death.
Camping was one of Pat’s favorite things to do and she often spoke fondly of summers growing up that were spent with cousins. Pat’s enthusiasm for camping was shared by her husband and daughter and they continued to make new memories with friends and family. She was an expert at creating dishes over the campfire; camping was never just hot dogs and hamburgers for her, but rather full course meals that would rival those cooked at home and she was famous for her banana boat sundaes for dessert. Pat also loved fishing, card games, the Puyallup Fair, the beach, sun, and football; go Seahawks!
In addition to a large family, she has many wonderful friends that she has known since childhood. She was a wonderful friend, daughter, sister, wife, mother, and most of all, a fantastic grandmother. Her grandson Zachary was a bright light in her life and she loved attending his sporting events as well as getting as many snuggles in as possible. Family was most important to her and she loved holidays and family get-togethers. She enjoyed cooking and could always be counted on to bring delicious food and treats to enjoy. Her cupboards were always stocked with everyone’s favorite foods just in case they stopped by. This is true to her character in that she always put others first above herself, even right up until the end. Throughout the years she spent time taking care of family and friends during their own illnesses, and was always there to lend a helping hand in any instance.
Pat’s life ended way to soon and she will be dearly missed by those who love her. She had a smile that could light up any room. Our family would like to thank the staff at the Evergreen Hospice Center for their care and support of Pat during her final days. We could not have asked for more.
Please honor the life and memory of Pat by leaving cherished memories, messages and photos for the family on the guestbook page. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Pat Kaiser Memorial Fund at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, http://giftfunds.stjude.org/patkaiser.
