Pamela Ellen Githens' Obituary
Pamela Ellen Githens, 71, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 2, 2020. She was born August 11, 1948, to Jerry and Lovina Barr in Tacoma, WA. She was a 1966 graduate of Stadium High School and also attended Western Conservative Baptist Seminary. From the time she was a young adult and for the rest of her life, she loved traveling the world, especially enjoying her time in Israel. She also worked for years as a skilled X-Ray Technician.
Pam met Duane Githens in Portland, OR and they married on May 21, 1977. Eventually she and Duane moved back to her hometown of Tacoma, where she resided until her death.
Pam was a devoted wife, mother and best friend to many. She would never turn away anyone in need and committed her life to helping others. She was eternally upbeat and optimistic, always ready with a smile and a laugh. If she wasn’t visiting with friends or having hour long conversations in the grocery aisle, she could be found at home, on the phone with one friend or another, dispensing sage advice, wisdom and laughter. She brightened the lives of everyone she met and will be dearly missed.
Pam accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior as a young adult. God was the foundation of her life and her trust in God never wavered. Even through her ordeal with cancer she was able to say with certainty, “I’m ready to go Home.”
Pam is survived by her husband, Duane, and 2 daughters, Kerissa and Corrie.
The memorial will be held at Sunset Bible Church, 7909 40th St. W, University Place, WA 98466 on Saturday, January 11th at 3:00 PM.
Parking is limited. Carpooling is appreciated.
