Pamela Ellen Githens, 71, passed away peacefully on the morning of January 2, 2020. She was born August 11, 1948, to Jerry and Lovina Barr in Tacoma, WA. She was a 1966 graduate of Stadium High School and also attended Western Con Read Obituary

I was part of the Israel trip which included alot of other countries and ended in India. I have such good memories and miss our reunion meals we used to try to do when I came on home assignment from Italy.pam would drive all the way down to Portland to meet us which I always thought was amazing. We had so much fun remembering and laughing and laughing and also serious talks! I am so thankful for Pam and our time together. Praying for you Duane and girls! Dee Valenzuela
Pam was like an adopted mom to me, after her best friend and my mom, Carol passed away ten years ago. Even after I moved away from the NW, we stayed close, speaking on the phone throughout the years. She never wanted to talk about herself, always wanting to hear about my life and make sure I was making the right decisions - as an adopted mom would!
Even in my last conversation with her, I didn’t know just how sick she was because she only wanted to hear about me. That’s the kind of woman she was.
She was there for my mom throughout the years, especially during my mom’s final stages with cancer. Staying by her side through the good and the bad. I remember a lot of laughter between the two of them!
She was an example of true friendship and I will keep her in my heart always, until I see her again.

Pam you will be missed by all of us cousins! You had a great laugh and oh my you would have a cure with vitamins for just about anything that was ailing us. Most and foremost you were the most caring and loving cousin. Taking care of auntie (your mom) when she was sick, caring for your daughter and anyone else that you could help, you were there.
The love you had for animals was infectious. When we were young we didnt have much but boy we could make fun out of just about anything! I will miss our visits and phone conversations, we shared everything. I am sad that you are gone but you will never be forgotten and never be sick again. You are with the rest of our family, being the angel looking over us all. Rest in peach Cuz, I love you. Marsha

You and Pam both were a blessing to me while I was your neighbor for 5 wonderful years. Pam encouraged me as an Uber driver when she started driving too. We seemed to share the same passion for being of service to others in whatever way we were meant to be. I didn't realize until now that we were both seminary graduates of conservative Baptist schools.
I feel blessed to have known Pam as a neighbor and friend. I am glad to know of her faith that has her resting in peace in the loving arms of her Savior.

I met Pam at Western Seminary back in the 70's where we teamed up with Carol Roberts to rent a house together. The two things I remember about Pam from those days were her ability to tell a great story that always had me laughing, and her beautiful, long, thick hair. Our lives went in different directions after grad school, but we somehow kept in touch, and during this past year our calls increased, chatting about audio books we loved, memories of our times with Carol, regrets we have, travels, medical challenges, and her faith in Jesus Christ who made death nothing to be feared. I miss her today but thankful for her being in my life on earth ... and seeing her again in heaven.
