It is never easy to lose a loved one, particularly those that teach us so much. From my grandpa I learned the value of hard work, the importance of honor, and unconditional love.
Owen O’Dom worked very hard to provide for his family and instilled that same value in his children and grandchildren. He encouraged us all to be our best and wanted us to be successful in all we do.
He was a proud man that honored the things that mattered most to him. He served admirably for his country and was a good example to those around him. He honored his family; my grandpa always referred to me as “Master Alex†and treated me as though I was someone very important.
He loved his family and those around him unconditionally. Even as an adopted child, I never felt different with my grandpa. It didnÂ’t matter to him that we were not of the same flesh and blood; to him, I was family just the same.
I will never forget the tender way in which he wished an old Irish blessing upon Sarah and I at our wedding dinner. That memory will linger fondly in my heart and mind every time I think of that night and of my grandpa.
I can only hope that will I grow to be the kind of man that he was and honor his legacy.
Love always, Master Alex##imported-begin##Alex Whitbeck##imported-end##
