Ollie V. Simmons' Obituary
Ollie V. Simmons born August 12, 1934 in Champaign,Illinois to the late Elmae Pickens and Lloyd Head. Ollie V. Simmons departed us on January 6, 2018 in Lakewood, WA.
Ollie was raised in a loving home with eight siblings. She has joined in heaven with her late sibling Dorothy Taylor, Wanda Pettis, Alice Hillard, Stanley Butler, William Butler, and Kenneth Head. Her surviving siblings are Harriet Vandesande and Carol Nesbitt.
Ollie served and spread her love to everyone that crossed her path. Our loving Mother worked in various professions always giving generously. She worked with students at the University of Illinois, a beautician, and a health nutritionist. She successfully graduated from Evergreen State with a Bachelors in Nutrition. She ended her career working and retiring at EFNEP (Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program) of Washington State University.
Ollie met her late beloved husband John Simmons in 1965 while stationed at Chinute AFB. They were married on September 3, 1966. The two love birds treasured their family and were blessed to have a loving marriage of 49 Years. They were both affectionately known and loved as Mom and Poppa to many children, family and friends.
Ollie Simmons was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother. She has left her loving legacy as follows; Rita (Clark) Sappington, Yolanda (Byron) Flanagan, Sharona (Ewart) Wong, Sean Simmons, Derrick (Charlotte) Cribbs. Ollie was blessed to have 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren.
