Janice Young
I meet Ms. Ollie in the early 1970’s in Champaign, IL.
Mrs. Ollie and Deacon John Simmons were known as positive parental figures in the neighborhood.
She was a classy and hospitable woman who encouraged all that she met to pursue their professional passions in cosmetology, military careers or traditional college.
I never imagined we would be living in the Puget Sound area 40 years later.
Many woman in Central Illinois visited the local Air Force Base in hopes of finding a husband. I reminded Ms. Ollie on occasion, that she got a great man, when she married Airman Simmons.
Can the church say Amen!
I speak these words today not just for myself, but also on behalf of several teenagers who have fond memories of Mrs. Ollie and still reside in Champaign-Urbana, and are now grandparents. To name a few I have spoken with this week: Darlene Horton-Anderson, Lillie Douglas, Billy Young and Aaron Tinsley.
We give you our condolences and pray that your positive memories of your matriarch and the Holy Spirit will comfort you, during this difficult time!
Ms. Janice Young
