Olga Hodge's Obituary
Olga (nee Schafrick) Hodge was born on June 7, 1929, in Leduc, Alberta, Canada, and died February 19, 2025, in Tacoma, at 95. Olga was a Tacoma resident for almost 70 years. As a young woman, she relocated from Alberta to Vancouver, B.C., where she met her future husband. She then emigrated to the United States, became a U.S. citizen, and married Eugene Hodge in June 1956. A dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker, she made a life in Tacoma and enjoyed it with family and friends. She was a devoted member of monthly Bingo and Birthday Clubs with her friends for decades. Following Eugene's death (2011), in 2013, she moved to Gibson Gardens, where she began a new chapter of life with friends, both new and old, and spent time with her daughter and son-in-law, who lived in Olympia during those years. In 2021, Olga moved to Gloria's House, the best adult family home on the planet, where she was loved and cared for by the outstanding and dedicated owners and caregivers. She is survived by her daughter Jenny Liebelt (and son-in-law Jim) of Quincy, Massachusetts, her sister Wanda Greene and brother-in-law Jack of British Columbia, brother-in-law and sister-in-law John and Kay Hodge of Tacoma, and many nephews and nieces. A special note of love and gratitude goes out to Olga's nieces, Jane Nichols and Diane Wetzel of Tacoma, who provided her with much care and companionship during her later years. Olga's remains will be interred with her husband at Tahoma National Cemetery.
