When Scotty and I first met you and Nick, it was as if we'd known you forever. Your home was so welcoming, and visiting there was always a special treat.
Nick was such a kind and caring person--a truly good man. I am so sad that he is gone; I will miss him.

Dad will be sorely missed forever. He was one of the kindest men I have ever known. As a young girl he always tried to stay in touch through letters to me and let me know how he felt about things and what was going on with his "northern family" and his work. I shall always appreciate the visits to me and my girls every summer. Jan and Dad built many wonderful memories of love and concern with all of us. Nicholas Herbrand is my beloved grandfather. He was one of the most beautiful people I will ever have the chance to know. My grandfather showed me the meaning of a Father's love, true and innocent. Grandpa, You are missed so very much. When I brought the family up to visit in your final week, I felt nothing but the love you gave us all. I will never forget the special times we shared. When you and grandma came to visit in the summer Nita and I loved going out to the trailer and having breakfast with the two of you. You gave a smile and a hug any time we wanted them - which was all the time - and you never tired from us following you around like lost puppies. Well dad it was a long 80 years, hope I'm given the same. We may never have agreed on music, but you showed me sides that I would have never seen. And guess what? I did finally buy a coountry c.d.. You gave me a work ethic that I could pass on to my kids and they can pass on to theirs. You also taught me how to squeeze every mile a car had to offer out of it. And how far a craftsmen tool will fly. I could go on and on, but don't have the space, just know there will always be a part of you living on through the generations of Herbrands and you'll always be remembered. If you get a chance give me hand tying up the loose ends of your shop, because I don't have a clue where you were on most of those projects. You were more of a father to me then my own.I may not have had you as long as your own children did, but I am very lucky to have had you for 30 of those years, you made a great father. I have always looked up to you. Well grandpa I gotta say I am gonna miss you. I couldn't count one time where you didn't have some sort of smile on your face whether it was happy, optimistic, or what, it was a smile. I am gonna miss the O hell games and the times spent at the annual family reunion, also the times spent in the music room watching the little Tv.
