Nathaniel J. Johnson,'s Obituary
Nathaniel James Johnson departed from his family to be with God August 14, 2006.Nate (aka Â"BusterÂ" and Â"Mr. AlabamaÂ") was born to Nathaniel Johnson, Sr. and Florence Johnson in Monroeville, Alabama and raised there with his mother and his siblings Lucy, Kat, Fay, and Bean. In 1984, he left there to join the United States Army and was trained as a Power Generation Equipment Repairer. Nate served as a full time soldier for 8 years, then rejoined as a Washington State National Guardsman. Showing pride and respect for his country, Nate proved himself to be an exemplary leader and soldier serving time in 2 tours of Operation Desert Storm. After almost 21 years of award earning service, Staff Sergeant Nathaniel Johnson retired. In 1996, he met and later married Terri. Together they built a relationship that showed those around them what is was to truly and totally love and be loved. Even through the REAL struggles of life, in the end the love and devotion they both have for each other could not be crushed and put aside.Nate and Terri have been committed to raising a loving and devoted family for almost 10 years. Their children Alicia, Devon, Frederick, and Nathaniel have been the center of their lives. Nate has spent years teaching our children to be loving, strong, devoted to our family, and to enjoy life to its fullest. Whether it was fishing or swimming, cooking or cleaning, or just being together our children were shown the true meaning of the love of a father.Nate has touched the lives of so many people by just being. He was an outgoing person who never hesitated to help someone who needed him. His love for life and family positively affected people who knew him a little and those who knew him well. Too often without being aware of it, Nate taught others to be just a little more loving, a little more giving, a little more devoted, or just a little more happy. Nate, your spirit and love for life will be kept alive in the hearts of your wife and children forever. Our bond was one that could be stretched but NEVER broken. I will achieve the dreams we built together by carrying your love and strength in my heart. We, as a family, will be forever devoted to making it happen both as individuals and as a family.God has your spirit, but we have your heart.Memorial services will be held for family and true friends at 1:00 PM on Saturday, August 26, 2006 at New Salem Baptist Church.
