I am blessed to say Monroe was my uncle. He was always so loving and huggable when we had our times together. My mom his sister Marian , Jerome and Monroes family was a very loving and caring family. This was because of grandparents Grandma and Grandpa Nordquist the dearest people on the earth. the last time I saw Monroe was when he came to our son Case"s wedding to his beautiful wife lauren...this was three years ago. Norman and Monica traveled with .This was the best gift of all to have them make the trip to Minnesota. Needlless to say there were alot of tears but the very best kind the tears of love and happiness. These are my tears my memories of the gifts of time I had with this dear man. Monroe and I also would write letters to each other when he was in VietNam . I have saved every word and letter. Always in the beginning and the end he wrote of getting home soon to his dear fammily. He always signed ...Love from the old soldier Uncle Monroe. To my cousins I have met and their children who I have not I give you many xoxoxoxo as we have always shared in our corespondences. Uncle Monroe, Norman, and Monica so generously shared time, laughs, memories, and conversation with us several summers ago when we were working hard to create lasting memories for his brother Jerome and wife Irma as Jerome's body was being overtaken by cancer. It was very special and we are so grateful for Monroe's commitment to getting here. We are all sending prayers and Grandma Mary's famous "XOXOXOXOX" (all the grandchildren of Mary and Sid likely know what I'm talking about) to you during this time.

I met Swede way back in the 70's at the Madigan Army Hospital, when I was an agent for Mutual of Omaha. He was one "great " guy to know. May God bless all the family. I'm sure he is with his beloved wife and friend Abrilla..We will miss you Swede.

To my cousins and their loved ones -- May you be feeling much comfort knowing that your Dad is at peace and that your parents are reunited. I greatly admired your Dad -- his dedication to your Mom, to you, and his country. When I was growing up it was always big news to hear that your parents were coming back to Hoffman for a visit. I knew that there would be lots of smiles and great storytelling, and that Grandma & Grandpa would be very, very happy. My mother was always so happy to receive phone calls from your Dad. She would tell me how he'd make her laugh. During their last conversation, two weeks ago, he insisted that he was doing fine and had no pain. Just like Grandpa Nordquist, he was a strong man who felt much compassion for others, and so often went above and beyond to help people. Mr. Nordquist was like a dad to me in many ways. I spent hours watching all kind of sports with him which I always enjoyed. He taught me how to change my car oil and allowed me to use his driveway and tools. He came to my high school basketball games. I will always have great memories of him as a really special person. Miss you Swede.

Lisa and Family...I am saddened by the loss of your father and of your mother from this earthly place, but rejoice that both are again together again in a wonderful place where the most awesome and joyous existence will last for eternity...Additionally, as you know Lisa, your Dad, "Swede", will always be remembered as the only parent in volleyball history [while you were playing in the game], to be ejected by the referee from the Steilacoom HS gymnasium for loudly complaining about some of the referee's calls...He was a real "character" and I always looked forward to being around him...Much love and God's Peace in this difficult time...Mike Hanby

I first met Sweed almost 30 years ago. He was a very passionate man who loved his family and his sports. If he was in your corner, he would defend you regardless of the outcome. My thoughts and prayers go out to Lisa and her siblings. I hope you have peace that he is in Heaven with his lovely wife, and probably has the biggest TV watching the Seahawks. He will always be missed. Rest in peace Sweed.

I love you, Dad, and miss you more than words can express. Thank you for being the best Dad any daughter could ever dream of having. I find comfort in knowing that you are reunited with Mom now and all your other loved ones up there, and that you are no longer suffering and in pain. Even though you never, ever complained, I can't even imagine all you were enduring. You taught me to see all the best things in this life. There is a huge hole in my heart until we meet again, Dad.
