Michael Eugene Walker's Obituary
Michael Eugene Walker was born on October 25, 1963. A native of Kansas, he grew up and attended public school in El Dorado and later at Berkeley High School, California, where he was recognized for his athleticism in Football and Track and Field. After graduating in 1983, he attended Merritt College in Oakland, California.
Michael accepted Christ at a very early age. He was an active member at Brookins AME Church in Oakland, California, where he devoted his time to working with the Young People’s Division and was a member of the youth choir, as one of the lead vocalist.
He joined the US Army in 1986 and received specialized training in Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Warfare (NBC), and ultimately ascended to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He earned an honorable discharge from the Army in 2001. Michael then went on to work in civil service as a Claims Examiner for the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, Health Plan Management, Non VA Medical Care section, where he remained employed until his health declined.
Michael was a God fearing man who loved God and all people. He was a minister at the New Life Baptist Church in Lacey, Washington. Always charming, his charismatic nature welcomed all who came to know him. He loved to sing (one of his greatest passions) and he always had a wonderful, contagious smile to greet you. People often called upon him for advice because of his compassionate and willingness to listen with a nonjudgmental heart.
On December 28, 2014, at 5:51pm, God opened his arms to receive his angel; Michael.
