Melvin S. Squires' Obituary
Melvin S. Squires, 62, passed away quietly in his sleep, Tuesday, July 26. Born October 13, 1942 to Hattie Rose and Raymond Squires, he was a lifetime Tacoma and Spanaway resident. Mel graduated from Lincoln High School and served in the Army Reserves. He entered the building trades and settled on masonry work, where he excelled, retiring in 2003 after 39 years from the Mason Union local #1, which he had been a member of since 1966. He was a lifetime member of the Lakewood Elks and VFW. Mel loved drag racing, NASCAR, billiards, working on his farm, and building his street rod with his beloved partner Denise Dawson. He is survived by his father Raymond, brother Leslie, nephew Casey, and legions of friends and darn few enemies.Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, July 30, 2005 in the Mountain View Valley Chapel.
