Maurice Farr's Obituary
Maurice Aldosia Farr 1/8/1956 - 4/17/2009 Devoted husband, protective father, loving brother, Maurice was born in Jackson, TN to Booker T., Jr. and Amanda Farr, who preceded him in death. After a courageous battle with cancer, Maurice departed from this earth to his heavenly home to receive his glorious crown. Maurice loved life and lived his life to the fullest until the end. His passion for taking care of his family was endless. He is survived by Cleo, his high school sweetheart and wife of 33 years, two beautiful daughters, Tiffany LaTonya and LaShawnda Victoria, eight brothers and sisters, Barbara Joyce Woods, Bronx, NY, Shirley Ann Watson, Tacoma, WA, Veda C. Whitfield (Charles), Jackson, TN, Donna Y. Frazier (Emanuel), Miami, FL, Booker T. Farr III (Jacqueline), Talladega, AL, Felicia Farr Fuller (Troy), Jackson, TN, Sarita Poston, Jackson, TN, Shawn Farr, Jackson, TN; two aunts, Kizzie Hunt (James), Detroit MI, and Esther Bridgman, St. Louis, MO, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. As a faithful member of Allen AME Church, he served as a Trustee, member of the Brotherhood, and dedicated counselor of the Youth Usher Board. As President of Usher Board #2 he exemplified the usher's prayer, "I would rather be a door keeper in the house of my God then to dwell in the tents of wickedness." He also had the "community" spirit by participating in CROP walks, AIDS walks, Christmas House and Paint Tacoma Beautiful. In his spare time, he was an avid sports fan and he loved to keep up with current affairs. Maurice graduated from Jackson Central Merry High in 1974, earned an associate degree from Pierce College, and graduated cum laude from Central Washington University in 2004 with a BA in Law and Justice. Maurice served his country honorably in the US Army from 1975 to 1978 with an additional 3 years in the Reserves. After the military, Maurice was employed by DSHS for 20 years, where he was truly loved and respected by co-workers and clients. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2009, 11:00am, at Allen AME Church, 1223 Martin Luther King, Jr. Way, Tacoma.
